Overview

Shaper is a Chrome extension that lets you modify websites, build browser extensions, and access AI in a sidebar. This policy explains how we handle your data.

Account Creation (Optional)

Shaper can be used without an account. If you choose to create an account, we collect:

• Email address: Required for authentication and account recovery

Account creation enables cloud sync functionality, which synchronizes your data across devices.

Data We Collect

With an Account (Cloud Sync Enabled)

When you create an account, the following data is synced to our servers:

• Modifications: Website modifications you create, including domain/URL, title, description, and code
• Prompts: Text improvement prompts you save
• Settings: Preferences like dark mode, auto-apply edits
• Usage quota: Daily usage count to provide free AI credits to account holders

Without an Account

All data is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API. Nothing is transmitted to our servers.

Data We Do Not Collect

Regardless of account status, we do not collect:

• Your browsing history
• Chat conversations with AI
• Content from webpages or PDFs you interact with
• Your API keys (these are stored locally and never transmitted to our servers)

Data Storage and Security

• Cloud data: Stored securely using Supabase with row-level security, ensuring you can only access your own data
• Local data: Stored in your browser using Chrome's storage API
• Encryption: Data transmitted to our servers is encrypted via HTTPS

Your Control

You can:

• Use Shaper without creating an account
• Delete your account and all associated cloud data at any time
• Clear local data by uninstalling the extension or clearing extension storage
• Export your data before deletion

Bring Your Own API Key (BYOK)

When you use your own API key:

• Your conversations go directly from your browser to your chosen AI provider
• We never access your API key or conversation content
• Your API key is stored locally only
• Your AI provider's privacy policy governs data sent through their API

Free AI Access via Pollinations

When using Shaper's free AI features:

• Requests are sent directly from your browser to Pollinations' API
• We do not intercept or store these requests
• Pollinations' privacy policy applies to data sent through their service

Third-Party Services

Shaper integrates with:

• Supabase: Authentication and cloud sync (if you create an account)
• AI Providers: OpenAI, Google Gemini, OpenRouter, Pollinations

Data sent to these services is governed by their respective privacy policies. We do not control how these providers handle your data.

Extension Permissions

Shaper requires these Chrome permissions:

• Active Tab: To interact with the current webpage when using AI features
• Storage: To save your settings and customizations locally
• Scripting: To apply your CSS and JavaScript edits to websites
• Host Permissions: To enable the sidebar and AI features across websites

These permissions are used solely to provide functionality, not to collect data.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy periodically. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
